About Us

On December 29, 2014 we embarked on our first Snowbird journey to the Southwest. For years we dreamed of this. Over time we prepared, and finally took off. What started as a travel blog, so family could keep up with where we were and what we were doing, it soon morphed into a place to share various writing on food, short fiction, and my journey with God. It's amazing to think that 2024 marks our 10th year of being on the road.

We are still traveling in the 38 foot Motorhome, a Class A 1999 Newmar Mountain Aire we started out with, along with our '95 Toyota Tacoma. Ten years with these means we made good choices in our preparation. Not that we don't look at others now and then.

The "Bucha" in the title and the "Jars and Journeys" refers to the kombucha and ferments in jars that travel with us. I don't want to be without my kombucha, so I have 2 gallon jars that I am brewing at any given time. I also do vegetable ferments (think sauerkraut or old fashioned pickles) on a continual basis. I also do milk kefir as well as water kefir. I am on a mission with my jars: to introduce as much probiotic goodness into my gut as I can because it works to keep me well.

Returning home from our 2nd Snowbird trip in spring of 2016, we realized that we weren't all that excited to come back to our house. We enjoy this lifestyle, so we got to work. For months we cleared out years of accumulated stuff and fixed up the house. It finally went on the market in January of 2017 and sold in four days.

That graduated us into the Full Time RVers of 2017 group. Not that we really had a 'group'. But it sounds official and we were delighted to be free of the house and off on more adventures. We found a camping club coop in 2016 where we got a lot that we return to in the summers, so we aren't without a home base.

In November of 2020, another kind of journey began. One where I joined a writing group via Zoom and began to take writing seriously; learning, honing skills and sharing with other writers. Who knows where this adventure will take me? Check this out here. It will take you to more of my writing and the books I've been published in.
